Celastrus paniculatus, also known as Black Oil Plant, has a range of medicinal benefits, including the treatment of dyspepsia, gout, rheumatism, sleeplessness, and cognitive impairment. The most widely utilized plant portion is the oil from the seeds (known as Jyothismati oil, JO), which contains different levels of the alkaloids celastrine and paniculatin.
