Ascorbic acid, vitamin K, a handful of triterpenoids, more than ten phenolic compounds, and more than 30 alkaloids are among the numerous phytochemical components found in Berberis Aristata. It may therefore have benefits that are hepatoprotective, analgesic, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antidiabetic, antibacterial, and anti-cancer. Berberine, a phytochemical found in it, is believed to benefit eye health.
