Acacia Catechu, also known as Cutch tree or Catechu, is a deciduous tree that is native to Southeast Asia and India.
Description
The tree is valued for its hard, dark-colored heartwood, which is used in a variety of products, including traditional medicine, tannins, dye, and ink. In traditional medicine, the heartwood of Acacia Catechu is believed to have astringent and anti-hypertensive properties, apart form that it is used to treat a wide range of conditions, including diarrhea, sore throat, and mouth ulcers. The extract of the heartwood is also used in traditional Ayurvedic medicine to promote oral health and treat skin problems.
